Hi, I’m Hanna and I love books. As a kid, I devoured them. A beloved classic, a Judy Blume novel, or a random paperback found yellowing on my parents’ bookshelf—it didn’t matter. If it had words, I’d read it (sometimes twice), craving a glimpse into other worlds and ways of being. I’ve spent the last two decades making engaging books for children, hoping to offer young readers the kind of entertainment and escape I craved growing up.

After graduation from the University of California Riverside, I joined Teach for America and taught third and fourth grade in Compton, California. When I switched careers and began working as an editor, I used what I had learned in my own classroom to create resources for teachers at educational publishers like Frank Schaffer and McGraw-Hill. In 2002, I was hired to start a K-8 educational imprint for Barnes & Noble. I eventually became the editorial director of Sterling Children’s Books, where I led the development of all children’s trade titles, including board books, picture books, novelty titles, middle grade novels, and more. Later, as the publisher of Lonely Planet Kids, I led the development of nonfiction titles for young audiences in the US, the UK, and Australia before joining Gibbs Smith as publisher, where I oversaw the creation of beautiful gift books for readers of all ages.

Today, I’m focused on providing freelance editorial services of all kinds, from content generation and writing to project management, developmental editing, and copyediting. Let me help make your next project a success!
